Der Jökulsarlon ist die einzige Verbindung vom Gletscher Vatnajökull ins Meer. Haushohe Eisberge treiben langsam durch die Lagune, schieben sich knirschend aneinander vorbei. Einige sind von Schnee bedeckt, mit schroffen, weißen Abbruchkanten, andere sind fast durchsichtig, leuchten türkis oder dunkelblau.

Jokulsarlon is the only connection between the glacier Vatnajokull and the sea. Icebergs as high as houses drift slowly through the lagoon and grind past each other. Some of them are covered in snow, with rugged, white edges. Others are nearly transparent and glow in turquoise or dark blue.
